Maine Public Service Exceeds Reliability Standards

Maine Public Service customers experienced fewer outages in 2008 than in recent years, exceeding standards set by Maine regulators.

Our customers consistently tell us that providing reliable power is important; and, in 2008 we had fewer customer hours without power, despite significant storms hitting our service territory.  Major investments in tree-trimming and other system upgrades continue to have a direct effect on improving and maintaining high system reliability standards.

Each year Maine Public Service measures eight key service-quality areas to track how well we are performing in our services to customers.  Through customer satisfaction surveys, frequency and duration of power outages, and the amount of time it takes to respond to an emergency or answer a customer calls, MPS measures performance against a rating system of benchmarks.  In 2008, MPS achieved all eight key measurements.  See the attached Report Card for details.
