Suppliers are unregulated companies that generate and are licensed to sell power in the MPS service territory. MPS makes sure this power gets to our customers throughout northern Maine or is transmitted to another electrical system. Transmission and distribution of electricity are important responsibilities of MPS, regulated by the Maine Public Utilities Commission (“MPUC”) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”).
Most homes and small businesses in our service territory are supplied by a Standard Offer Supplier. The MPUC chooses the Standard Offer Supplier through a competitive bidding process. The Standard Offer supply is conveniently billed in the same statement as the delivery bill.
